“Upta Camp” Canoe Race and After-Party

Launch: Winthrop Boat Launch on Turtle Run Rd

Grab your paddles and channel your inner camp legend for the inaugural Upta Camp Canoe Race!

This friendly race is open to any two-person, human-powered watercraft —canoes, kayaks, rowboats, paddle craft, and any other vessel powered solely by grit, determination, and teamwork. No motors allowed.

The Course (pictured to right). Racers will launch from the Winthrop boat launch, paddle around Hersey Island and Island Park, and make their final push to the finish line beneath the Island Park Bridge.

The winning team will earn eternal bragging rights and be forever immortalized in Cobbossee Lake Lore.

Whether you're a seasoned paddler or just looking for a great excuse to spend a summer day on the water, this race is all about friendly competition, lake life, and making memories.

Gather your paddling partner, choose your craft, grab your lifejackets, and get ready to see who can claim their place in lake history.

Everyone (paddlers, spectators, and those who just want to hang out) is invited to gather at Island Park Brewing for an Award Ceremony immediately following the race. Beer and soft drinks will be available to purchase.

El Agave's Food Truck will be on site if you wish to purchase food.
